NEWSLETTER 2024
Just in time for Christmas, we would like to look back with you on an eventful year at the Cartoneros y sus Chicos Foundation. Our newsletter will give you an insight into the inspiring stories and positive changes we have brought about.
Gala-Dinner in Buenos Aires
In October, our gala dinner took place at the Colección de Arte Fortabat Museum in Buenos Aires, bringing together supporters and friends of our project.

Since our last charity event in 2019, our “Cartoneros Family” has grown, and it was truly moving to see how many people stand behind our mission.
​
The evening was marked by incredible generosity and warmth, featuring delicious catering, exquisite wines from Colomé, and live music by the band Bandalos Chinos.
​
Thanks to the donations, a successful auction was made possible, significantly strengthening our fundraising efforts for educational initiatives. This inspiring evening was a highlight of 2024 for our foundation.

School visit in Buenos Aires
As every October, Renata Jacobs visited the children at our school, Cartoneros y sus Chicos, in Buenos Aires.
She spent time with them, participated in their classes, and enjoyed alfajores with the children generously donated by the company Lucciano’s. The children delighted in savoring the alfajores with great enthusiasm.

Witnessing these young students thrive serves as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
Early in the morning, Renata Jacobs also visited the parents of our children at their workplace in the recycling facility.

Exciting Developments at
Cooperativa Madreselvas
The journey of our Foundation Cartoneros y sus Chicos began in 2009 with the establishment of Cooperativa Las Madreselvas. This cooperative, formed by urban waste pickers with years of experience, started by collecting recyclable materials, sorting them, and selling them to earn a livelihood.
​
Since those early days, they have made remarkable progress and can now proudly call themselves environmental salvagers. Always seeking meaningful ways to expand their efforts, the cooperative is also dedicated to supporting senior citizens in their community. As part of this initiative, Banco Credicoop (Cabildo branch) generously provided seeds for their vegetable garden project at the Espacio de Adultes Mayores.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Marcelo Ortelli, the bank's manager, for his support.

We are thrilled to celebrate Argentina's incredible victory over Colombia in the Copa!

Our children's faces lit up with joy and pride as they wore their Argentine scarves, showing their unwavering support for our national team.
Moments like these bring our community together and fill our hearts with hope and happiness.
